Mesmerizing Bahai House of Worship- Lotus Temple

Bahai house of worship was constructed in a shape of lotus flower and thus got its name as “Lotus temple”. It is situated in New Delhi, India. The temple was constructed in a shape of a half opened lotus flower floating on its leaves. It’s a perfect example of art and is well known for its architecture. The temple was completed in 1986. The temple was completed with a total cost of $10 million. The temple is approximately 34 metres high with the seating capacity of 1300. The temple can be visited by the people of any religion.

The architect of this building was an Iranian person named Fariborz Sahba, who currently lives in Canada. The structure design of the temple was completed in just 18 months by a UK firm Flint and Neill. The construction of the temple was done by construction group of Larsen and Toubro Limited. Ardishir Rustampur of Hyderabad spent his whole life saving money, and shared a major portion for buying land for this temple. The temple was open to public in December 1986 and according to a data by government of India temple has received more than 100 million visitors by the month of April, 2014.
